Is it really fair for one family to be this gorgeous? They were visiting from South Carolina and Miss Farrah just turned one so it was time to document. I took Jessica's maternity photos before Farrah was born, so it was so nice to be able to meet this little darling in person. I was dying over those eyelashes!

I've decided that First Year Packages are my favorite thing. (Learn about them on my website.) I get to see and photograph babies throughout their entire first year. And in Sylvie's case, before she was even born. I get to see their milestones, talk to their parents about accomplishments and frustrations, and learn all about these sweet babies. For instance, I got to learn on this shoot that Sylvie is a Daddy's girl, she is almost walking (and probably is by now), and the girl loves to drawl any and everywhere, even if her little tights get filthy. :) So much fun to watch this darling baby girl grow up.

The temperature on my phone said 25 degrees and there was a slight wind. It was cold. It was very cold. But would sweet little Charlie ever show any signs of discomfort? No. Because, I'm convinced, she's the perfect baby. So easy-going, laid back, happy and GORGEOUS. I love photographing this family. Can't wait for Charlie's one-year shoot next month!

Don't you love the name? I'm not sure how I get so lucky but I've had the best newborns lately who sleep and mold exactly how I want them. Irelynn was no different. I've photographed her older sister, Maddie, many times and couldn't wait to meet this no-doubt-about-it darling baby. I love this sweet family and am so happy for them. Congrats!

Wow...October was insane. We finished building and closed on our new house, moved into new house (unpacking is WORSE than packing if you ask me), my husband ran a marathon in St. George, I turned the big 3-0 (can't believe I just admitted that), went on a 7-day Mexican Riveria cruise, had a bunch of photo shoots, and in between all that juggled preschool, soccer games, halloween parties, GNOs and life in general. Whew! I'm still trying to catch up. This was my last October session, so everyone else I'm sorry I can't get a sneak peek up, but you have your logins for your online galleries in your email!

Sweet Curtis was such a dream baby. He was happy, easy-going, and slept most of the session...even when his big sisters were ~~squeezing~~ holding him. :)

I've had the privilege of photographing Lily her entire first year. From her mom's maternity shoot, to her newborn photos, to her six-month photos and now she's one! She just gets more and more beautiful every time I see her. A year goes by too fast for me...enjoy beautiful Miss Lily.

Those were the parting words of awesome 10-year-old Ghabe. This shoot will go down as one of my favorites because of that little guy. He was hilarious and so full of personality! And his little brother was the same way...they both kept us laughing through the whole shoot. This was one sweet family who love spending time together and it shows.

Oh and yes Ghabe, let's hang out sometime. :)

When I was in Seattle a few weeks ago, I was able to take some photos of my niece and nephews. We wish, wish, wish they lived closer so we could see them all the time. But they used to be in Boston, so we'll take Seattle. :)

Aw, beautiful Miss Charlie. I know I say that every baby is beautiful but I swear I get the cutest clients. :) Charlie is definitely one of the most chill, easy-going, happy baby I've photographed. We changed her outfits multiple times, she almost fell over a few times and she didn't care. Aren't her cute parents lucky? :)

My beautiful, spunky, completely charming niece Annika turns two today! They live in Houston now, but were here visiting a few weeks ago and luckily we found some time for a photo shoot. I love this little girl like she's my own. While they were staying with us I found my shoes all over the house because she kept trying them on and wearing them all over. This girl's got some serious personality. Happy birthday Annie! We love you!

Who says extended family portraits can’t be fun?! I had a wonderful time with this lovely group of 10 adults and 12 children. They came in from all over - Wyoming, California, New Mexico. I was honored to take their family photos. This family could also give lessons on what to wear - they did a great job of coordinating colors!

And sometimes, despite our best efforts, the kids are done. :)

Mr Bryson is one! I've photographed this little guy his entire first year and he gets cuter every session. We really lucked out on the weather on this session. Had nice cloud-covered the whole time and just as we were finishing we felt drops on our arms. Whew! Perfect timing!

The first attempt at this photo shoot was a bust. I left my house seeing gray clouds looming over and by the time I got to the location the wind was blowing like a hurricane was coming and it was starting to sprinkle. We had to reschedule and boy, I'm glad we did! We ended up with beautiful (albeit HOT) weather. Miss Cate was happy and easy as can be. I just love photographing this little girl!

I love photographing these kids. Their mom and dad are some of our best friends and I look forward to their yearly trip to Utah, which always involves a photo shoot. These two were cute as ever. My daughter and son have birthdays three years and one week apart, so I decided to do their photo shoots together. I'm really glad I did. There were a couple of shots of them together that I just love and can't wait to hang them in our new house (which we're still months away from getting into - they just started framing!). So here are a few images from Claire at four years old and the big Luke-ster at one! BTW - I can tell it's busy season. Their birthdays were over a month ago!

Out of utter embarrassment, I won't tell you what I was doing to get these smiles. Just know that there was nothing graceful about it. ;)

Sophia's mom contacted me months ago to schedule a newborn session for her upcoming baby. We set the session date for June, but much to my surprise, I got an email from Danielle in May saying that Sophia was here! She was 4 weeks early and doing great. Here she is at 12 days new.

She gave us a lot of smiles!

I love that when I asked her parents to kiss her, they both closed their eyes. Obviously in love.

Love those big eyes, just like her mama's.

Great Grandpa came along too. I loved this moment when he was comforting her.

Meet the B Family! We lucked out with a beautiful day amidst all the rainy ones! And it just so happened to be Mr Charlie's first birthday! We were having a rough time getting smiles out of him and his parents were so surprised by it. Then I got an email from Annie later that day - the poor kid had double ear infections! Knowing that, he was beyond fantastic! I took Owen's one-year pictures a few years ago and I can't believe how big he's gotten. I know I say this all the time, but where does the time go? And isn't Lily gorgeous? Ah! I just loved this family!

My sister was in town from Texas and we needed an updated photo of all the grandkids on my side of the family. The three youngest change so fast! So I had the whole family come to my new downtown SLC studio for a very quick session. It was a lot of work, but worth it, especially for the first photo.

One of my favorite images...ever. I love how it shows all their personalities. I'll be blowing this up on a 20x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.

Standing behind me was two moms, a dad, grandma, and great grandma all singing and making funny noises to get all the kids looking AND smiling at the same time. A miracle!

We didn't last too long outside...it was cold!

I am participating in Kelly Willette's the Joy of LOVE online workshop and I think it's going to be so much fun. It's main purpose is not only to capture the month of love, but also to remind ourselves of the love that we feel for others, and for the people and things that are close to our hearts.

Throughout the month of February I will be photographing my two favorite subjects: my kids. Each day I receive an assignment that tells me how to photograph them, or what to photograph them doing. So plan on me posting something every day in February...I hope I can keep up with it!

Would you believe these photos were taken in the middle of January? I wouldn't believe it myself if I wasn't there. I think we found the one warm day in the whole month...hallelujah! You'll remember River from his newborn photos and 6-month photos. I call him Mr. Photogenic. The kid doesn't take a bad picture. And even though his mom thought he wasn't very happy during the shoot, I'm hoping I proved her wrong. :) Love you guys!

Darling Miss Cate showed up for her first photo session all ready to go! The girl was OUT. Big props to her mama for doing her best to have Cate sleepy. Then she woke up when she needed a diaper change and then gave us some awake photos. Very obedient little girl already. :) The arrival of this little girl has been much anticipated - she's the only grandbaby on either side of the family. Isn't she darling?

I'm back! It was nice to have a little break over Christmas. We went to California for ten days with my husband's family. The weather was great and the company was even better. We even did a photo shoot with the whole fam, which was made possible by the new remote my father-in-law got me. No more setting the timer and running around! Yay!

But glad to be back in the saddle again. I'm renting a new studio in downtown SLC, so I'll be doing many studio sessions in the next few months. I'll be running some specials on those studio sessions, so email me if you're interested!

Now, onto the photos. If Erin's maternity session was any indication as to how photogenic their baby would be...there's no question now. Sylvie is gorgeous. One of my easiest newborn sessions to date.

I just loved taking photos of this family. The camera ate them up. And so did my mouse while I edited their session...gorgeous-ness! Even though the weather report said the high would be 37 degrees, it (luckily) didn't feel that cold. Remember Jamie's maternity session? Well, fast forward a few months and meet sweet baby Lily. This girl had a rough start at life. We had her photo shoot all set up for 12 days old, but she ended up spending the first seven weeks of her life in the hospital. So glad that everything worked out okay and she won't have any long-term effects. I was a little nervous for her session at seven weeks because usually babies that age don't cooperate very well. Lily blew that notion right out of the water! She slept and molded however I wanted her to. Love this little girl and her parents. :)

I used to swap babysitting with Melissa when Claire and Ethan were just babies. I got to know and love little Ethan so much. Well, he's not so little anymore. This little 3-year-old has grown up so be inquisitive, smart, and extremely thoughtful. And Claire talks about Brian like he's a celebrity...he coached her soccer team and now every time we see him she points and says, "Look Mom! It's Coach Brian!" :)

We got out the football and I loved this one...blind trust that his dad would throw it perfectly into his arms... :)

These two have such a sweet bond.

My sweet niece, Annika, had her first birthday and her cake smash was so much fun. She was NOT into taking photos before the cake and balloons came out, but once they were there she forgot we existed. The girl loved her cake. :)

I made this storyboard for her mama, framed it up and gave it to her as a going away present before they moved to Texas. :( Miss you guys!

The balloon kept getting stuck on her bottom teeth. She thought this was hilarious!

This time of year is always busy, but WOAH! This year has kicked my butt! I've had so many awesome sessions this fall. I'm trying to keep up! Maybe it's the whole two kids thing too. Still trying to figure out how to stay on top of everything as a mom and run a business. I'll probably always be figuring that one out... :)

Meet Daniel. Probably one of my smiliest (is that a word?) babies yet. He kept getting into that almost-asleep phase and would give a few smiles and then wake up again. It worked out great. I was really feeling the black and whites with this little guy's gorgeous dark hair.

Ellie's family has a wonderful (and in my opinion smart) tradition. Every child, and now every grandchild, gets professional portraits taken on their 5th birthday. It's a great age because they aren't babies anymore, but they are still kids. It's also an important and changing time in their lives with going to elementary school and becoming a "big kid". Then their grandma can hang a picture of all her grandkids at age five. I love the idea. And I love this family (including their cousins and grandparents!).
So happy 5th birthday to you beautiful Ellie! And little sister Bailee is just as darling!

I posted Rocky's one year photos yesterday and now it's time for his cake smash pictures! It took him a little while to warm up to the idea. He definitely didn't like the frosting on his feet, but once he got his toy trucks and could ram them into the cake, he was good to go. :) He's all boy.

We got a few studio shots beforehand...

He's got his truck...now he's comfortable.

See what I mean about the foot? He just let it hover above the cake so it wouldn't touch the frosting.

I consider the session a success when I get a face like that at the end!

You may remember Rocky from his newborn photos. Or his sneak peek from here. Or if not, probably from his six-month photo session. I've photographed Rocky all through his first year of life so I couldn't be happier to take his one-year portraits. We had a bit of a "rocky" (...ha ha ha) start with our photo shoot location filled with guys shooting BB guns at each other, but after a little sweet-talking they moved aside for us. Danielle did a great job planning the outfits, even though the ones she meant to use were still being shipped (which of course arrived later that day)!

A few months ago as I was putting a book together for my daughter's birthday, I noticed that I didn't have any pictures of my in-laws alone. What? My own family is lacking in some sort of picture? Not for long. When they were in town from Seattle for my baby's blessing, I made them do a short photo shoot. I definitely lucked out in the in-law department.

I even got them to do some head shots.

So grateful for these two. Great parents to my husband, great in-laws to me, and wonderful grandparents to my kids.

{What is a Mini Session}
Mini sessions are the perfect way to get an updated family portrait without doing a full session. These mini sessions can be used for anything you'd like...baby, family, siblings, couple, etc. *These sessions are for up to six people. There is a fee of $10, for each additional person, up to 8 people total.

Several back-to-back sessions will be booked on this day, so it is important that you are on time for your appointment.

{How are these different from regular sessions}
Mini sessions differ from my full sessions in many ways...my full sessions are 1-2 hours and are personalized to you and your family. They take place at a location of your choice. The typical gallery from a full session is 30-35 images.

{Multiple Mini Sessions}
You may book more than one session in a row. In fact, it is recommended that you book multiple sessions if you have three or more children. The cost of a double mini session (two sessions) is $350.

Saturday - rustic location

All client galleries will be posted within 2-3 weeks of your session.
Once your images are up, you will receive an email with your private gallery link and password. Your gallery will remain active for three weeks. All orders must be placed in this time.

Celeste is six months old! I know I always say this, but it feels like I was doing her newborn photos last week. Time needs to slow down. Well, she's as darling now as she was as a newborn. This is one of my favorite ages to photograph - sitting up, but not yet crawling. Celeste did not disappoint - she was so happy and smiley!

I absolutely loved this shoot. Not only because Ashley came ultra-prepared (love that!), but because these two are seriously in love. They couldn't even walk past each other without kissing. I love being about to capture that. The best part about it is that they've been married for five years and still seem to be in the honeymoon phase. Mike just deployed to the Middle East for the next year, so I know these photos mean a lot to Ashley. Enjoy...

Meet my sweet son, Luke. (That still feels weird to say - SON.) He's three weeks old now and couldn't be a sweeter baby. He sleeps all the time. Eats great. Almost never cries. And smiles all the time...at least while he's sleeping. :) Here are a few photos at 6 days old. Many subsequent photo shoots have followed, so be prepared to see him often on this blog.

I should have blogged this session earlier, but my sweet baby boy arrived earlier than planned! That's right! Luke Nathan was born on Mother's Day and was the best present I ever could have received. I am a mother of two! He is healthy, beautiful (can I say that about a boy?), and looks exactly like my husband's baby photos. His big sister loves him and asks to "smooch" him non-stop. There will be many photos of him to come soon...many of them. :)

For now, enjoy the sweet B family. These boys were about the cutest things you've ever seen. Little Lucas actually came up and hugged me out of the blue. TWICE. So sweet. His mom and I used to play soccer together back in the day. Great to see her again and meet her fun husband and boys.

BTW - I'm having a great time today listening to the online stream of Escalate Live. There are so many great speakers like Jasmine Star and Becker. All you photographers - check it out if you have some time today and tomorrow. I'm so grateful they are streaming live, since I never could have gone with a one-week-old baby! Luckily my mom has Claire and my baby is a sleeper, so I can multi-task and watch while I'm editing photos. :)
